Some of you may know what those letters stand for and some may not. Trying to Conceive. Here's my story. It all began in Feb. 07 after marrying my husband in Nov. 06 and being together for 10 years with a 6 yr old I yearned for a new addition to our family. Michael was a little reluctant at first but then we came in agreement that it was time. We made an appointment with my OB/GYN, the best in the world might I add. She gave us the green light and the race was on. How exciting we're going to have a baby. I began to stalk the babymaking websites Two Week Wait, Babyzone and the list goes on. I looked for every possible sign each month that I was pregnant. I even thought at one point my hiccups were a symptom. Months passed by and I began to notice my cycles were becoming irregular which was weird for me. I could tell you the exact day my cycle is suppose to start and now it was tricking me. For a trying to conceiver each month that rolls by with no luck is a saddening and discouraging moment.

June, July and August come and go and still no baby in there. I begin to think something is wrong. We are two young people and I should be pregnant by now. The late nights up researching symptoms online is becoming tiring. Am I crazy. Do I want this to much. No I can't be crazy I'm not the only one who yearns for that unconditional love that a child gives you. In their eyes you are perfect, can do no wrong. You are their hero. I finally made another doctors appointment but this time with my family physician to do another overall physical. He found what he believed was PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). In lamer terms cysts on my ovaries. It was caused by a mild case with my blood sugar. He prescribed Metformin for me and I began that in Nov. 07. He said that within two weeks of starting the Metformin I would have a cycle and low and behold he was right. Maybe this is going to work. We were also using Preseed, which is a safe lubricant for sperm. December not pregnant, but hey I just started the Metformin I have to give it time to work.

During the holidays I had picked up a part time job and I worked with another girl who was also TTC. It felt good to actually have someone other than my husband who really felt what I was going through. So Christmas and New Years have both come and gone. We celebrated and I really wanted to give my husband a baby for Christmas but oh wells. It's now the middle of January and I really wasn't feeling weird but it was time to test. With my one year anniversary coming up on TTC I was getting impatient. My cycle was due in 2 days but I could not even wait. You could imagine how many test I have taken before. I stopped by the dollar store after work because spending 10 to 15 dollars a pop on pregnancy test adds up. The $1 test will due just fine until we are sure. When I got home I told my husband I had gotten a test and as always he said "ok are you going to take it or what". I took the test and left the bathroom and when it was time I went back, the line was very faint but there. OMG OMG OMG I think I am pregnant and the journey begins. On September 16, 2008 Miles arrived in the world. WOW! Is this the way love feels.

BREASTFEEDING

Wow I never knew people would be so critical to breastfeeding. When I decided to breastfeed the moment I found out I was pregnant I was excited. As if they know the sacrifices I give to nourish my baby 24/7. Oh and also the benefits of breastfeeding for baby far exceeds any other form of nourishment. For starters I may have a couple of glasses of wine a week, (FINE WITH THE DOCTOR) when my usual relax time was 1 or 2 each day and who cares what you think of that. I cant even eat dinner without a baby in my lap or use the bathroom without baby at the door. He's not the only one at the door either, my oldest son doesn't believe in knocking and neither does my husband. I never have any me time. I told Michael (husband) that I was going to a movie last Friday. His response "whose keeping the kids" my response "you are". Guess what movie I saw. "Never any me time". Needless to say I never made it to the movies. Anyway back to breastfeeding, everyone thinks they know whats best for my baby. I have done the research I know the benefits of BF (breastfeeding).

I was told the other day that it's time to put the baby on whole milk so he can get that calcium LOL. WTF! OK yeah there is 10mg per oz in breastmilk and 37.5mg per oz in cows milk. But the other benefits found here vs. cows milk far exceed low calcium. I also support the calcium needs with other foods as well.

I am by no means putting down the mothers who formula-feed my hat off to you. If I had to make a bottle and pack anything extra in my already huge baby bag I would just scream. I formula-feed our first child. I was 7 years younger and just afraid.

Oh have I been M.I.A. You would not believe what I have been going through lately. First My computer blew up and we had to get another, not brand new but it will work until we do. Second I've been trying to catch up on some much needed house work. My husband thinks I am on the internet to much and he was a little upset. Any who how do you girls keep up. What is it like in the day of a SAHM. Let us know and if you have any other tips that would be great.

To Snoogle or not to Snoogle

So I was recently asked about the snoogle from an expecting mom, and oh boy did I have a mouth full. When you are expecting you feel like you want everything, you know, the best for you and the baby. Well I wanted the snoogle and might I add that it is an $60 pillow. My husband warned me not to get it, but what do we wives do, we don't listen. I bought the pillow and used it all of maybe 2 weeks, yeah 2 weeks. My 7 year old son called it the snake and he got more use out of it then me. First you can never get comfy, it doesn't really support your back and if you turn it the opposite way it's too much around your belly. My husband complained about it being in between us and I guess it was practice because baby is there now, but that's another post. So what do you think.
